WE ARE SHUJAAZ INC, A NETWORK OF SOCIAL VENTURES BASED IN NAIROBI.

We are Shujaaz Inc, a network of social ventures based in Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam. Our ventures inspire, entertain and mobilise 7.5 million 15-24-year-olds across East Africa.

Our network connects young people with the information, skills and resources they need to take control; embedding them in a digital and real-world community that gives them the self-belief to succeed, in their context and on their terms.

Meet Our Team

WE’RE LED BY AN APPROACH

WE CALL ‘PLAYER FIRST’.

We’re led by a simple guiding value, we call it ‘Player First’. It means we put our fans first in every decision we make. More than that, it means we believe that young people hold the solutions to overcoming the barriers they face. And that means we design our ventures from the ground-up alongside our fans.

It works like this; we talk to young people about their lives, the changes they want to make and the barriers that are standing in their way. Then, we invite our community of 7.5 million shujaaz (heroes) to tell us if they’re facing the same challenges, and how they break down those barriers in their lives.

Drawing on the insights of our team and our partners, we identify the most effective barrier-breaking stories, sharing them across our media platforms, and even designing new ventures around the most important, transformative solutions – like hustling.

Our team of 60 young East African researchers, creatives, strategists and producers design and run our network of social ventures; Shujaaz, East-Africa’s biggest youth brand; Shujaaz Biz, our digital learning community; and MESH, the first online community for entrepreneurs in informal economy.
